'Alamika Love' hopes her new meditation center can bring some peace to her hometown.

Updated: Jul 28, 2021

New Black Owned Meditation Center Open in Wyoming.

Grand Rapids native, known as Aalamika Love, opened up her meditation center the second week of January 2021.

She got the physical location to her herbal natural products business over a year ago, but says after opening up the meditative practice she can now see her dreams come into fruition.

"This is my meditation center, my end goal is to have a meditation campground, that's my ultimate mission," Love says.

She loves teaching the practice of meditation because she said it has personally changed her life.

“Growing up I was really popular but also really depressed. So I just feel like a lot of people struggle with knowledge of self and self love.”

Self love is a sentiment she’s picked up from teachings of herbalist Dr. Sebi, Ghandi, and Martin Luther king.

Telling us that meditation is a practice they all used to practice patience, something she feels everyone needs during these stressful times.

“I feel like during these hard times of everyone being trapped home depression going through the roof, addiction going through the roof it’s the perfect time to find divine oneness," Love said, "It helps me, it helps my children and I have people come here and they let go for like up to hours and its beautiful."

The space was initially supposed to be a preventative health center that Love shared with her fiance.

The meditation center is just one step closer to that goal.

They only take two people at a time per session, due to restricted space and covid-19 protocols.

“We are not living in our past anymore or the future, because living in the future gives us anxiety and in the past depression, so we make sure we are living in the now moment," Love said.

But Loves first business is still her No Capacity products, that are also made to help in the full body and soul healing process.

"I believe what we eat has everything to do with our physical health which then impacts our mental spaces," Love said.

Seamoss and Elderberry syrup are her best sellers.

The Elderberry syrup will be available not only online and with curbside pickup, but also in the Southeast market.

The first black owned grocery store that sources all its items from other black, native, and women owned businesses, and opens in grand rapids on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

You can book a meditation session online here.

The first session is free for now.
